La Porte County Unites!

We live in the future, guys. By now many have forgotten (or have never known) what life was like before the Internet. So we can sometimes take for granted how much things have improved since its conception.

A little over a decade ago, fundraising still depended on how many people you could get to buy your stuff at your yard sale. But by harnessing the power of the web, online fundraising has streamlined the fundraising process, making it easier than ever for individuals to raise money.

The long and short of it is that pushing fundraising efforts to the web has changed the way people think about raising money. It's also had a significant positive impact on the success rate of fundraisers. As technology advances, it continues to spark innovative ideas that make fundraising easier and more effective for individuals and organizations. And we think that's pretty cool.

United Way of La Porte County impacts your community by bringing health and human service programs to La Porte County that unite area nonprofits and corporations to achieve common goals. There are several programs that are a part of our Community Impact Initiative. These programs are designed to get at the root causes of problems so that people in need can lead more productive, self-sufficient lives. Giving to the United Way of La Porte County 2015 Community Fund is the most powerful way to invest in your community.

Now, all you need to do is create a fundraiser page, tell your story and why you support the United Way AND how your friends and family can impact the lives of others by donating. Aside from reading this, the process should take you about 5 - 7 mins, unless you are one of those super creative types. :-)

Add a photo of yourself, tell your friends your story, compel them to click that link to donate. They will have two options to donate. They can use the secure portal within the website (our campaign) to submit payment or use the PayPal portal that will be added by us here at the United Way to the page once you create it.

With one gift to the United Way, you support a coordinated network of health and human services through local member agencies and programs. Your contributions help strengthen families and individuals, develop self-sufficiency, nurture children and youth, build strong communities, foster health and wellness and support the elderly. The United Way of La Porte County is local. Money raised here stays here to help local people who really need you.

Income – increasing financial stability for individuals and families

How Can You Help?

When you make a gift to United Way of Central Maryland's Education, Financial Stability & Health fund, you help people get access to things like healthy food, housing and health care -- to stabilize their lives, along with supportive services like case management, financial literacy and job skills, education and other resources that allow them to work toward success.

Gifts of all sizes make a difference. For example:

• $52 can supply 5 pounds of produce to a hungry family each week for a year
• $260 can provide 4 months of employment readiness training to a homeless individual
• $1,000 can help a person stabilize his or her life with 1 month of permanent housing

Together, we can build a stronger community for all!

No donation is too small.
50 cents from each can help feed people in our community.
$1 from can help children prepare for success in school.
$5 from each paycheck can help fund youth programs across the county and provide basic needs to people right here in La Porte County.
